A complaint facilitators often hear in a temperament workshop is: ?But what if I have two colours tied for first place?? If for no other reason, this book is worthwhile. There is a whole chapter on the six possible blends of two colours.
Temperament has become a key concept of personality with programs such as Personality Dimensions?. There are so many topics temperament can be applied to, but in any workshop there are only so many ideas that can be considered, otherwise participants go away feeling overloaded and confused. This is a book that can be recommended as it covers many of the topics people are interested in.
The book begins with a colour quiz. This is a ten question quiz that asks you to rank order four statements in each question. For those who felt they did not come up with a clear cut colour in a workshop, this allows for further confirmation, particularly.
A history of temperament is given, followed by a chapter on each of the four temperaments, describing their behaviour and their likes and dislikes. There is a chapter on the troubles of each of the colours, and then a chapter on the colours in relationship, what they are like in a relationship and how they get along in the various combinations.
The leadership and working styles of each temperament are described as well as a list of possible careers suited to each colour. Next, the various temperaments of children, looking at their needs, strengths and challenges. Parents are also discussed with lists of their strengths and challenges.
This is a very interesting and readable book. It is one that you can recommend to your workshop participants and clients, knowing they will have access to further insight into the concept of temperament in a way that will be useful to them.
